Have you heard of those success stories? You know the ones, someone started a website, played around with it for a while, did some sort of launch and now is living rich on the beach somewhere?

Then you find yourself asking, how did they do that?

Firs thing you need is your own website. One that is hosted on a server that you either own or pay for. You do not want a free site. The reason is because free sites have ads and pop ups on them and this can drastically reduce your ability to sell or market yourself. You should also become familiar with how site tracking works and html. Now most sites and web hosting services will provide you with some form of basic site building software and that will work for now. But eventually you will want to know how to build sites yourself. It will make things go quicker and your site will look more professional.

Now once your site is up you will want to put an autoresponder onto it. An autoresponder will allow you to collect the names and email addresses of people who are interested in what you have to say, and it will allow you to communicate with them as time goes on. In turn you can then send them relevant offers for products you either own or are affiliated with. You can try sending them offers from the get go but your unsubscribe rate will be high. Always remember to give first, give as much valuable information as you can and then start to make offers.

All that's left now is just traffic. There are several different ways to get traffic but I want to talk to you about pay per click. You can go to yahoo, google, or msn and find they each of these search engines (and many more) offer a way for you to pay for advertising with them. Essentially someone types in something they are looking for and if you choose to pay for that phrase then your ad will show along with the regular or "organic" search results.

If someone clicks on your ad they will be sent to your site and you will have to pay a certain amount, whatever your bid amount is. Now hopefully once that person is on your site they will sign up to your autoresponder and you can start emailing them information.

So if you want to have your own online success story the steps you need to take are getting a website, setting up an autoresponder, and sending the site traffic. This is a major overview but it will get you started in the right direct.
